This is a signed Japanese ivory Okimono of a Fukurokuju. It dates from the Meiji period. The Fukurokuju is in company of a boy who bears a gourd on his back.

A Fukorokuju is one of the seven lucky gods in Japanese mythology. Usually portrayed as bald with long whiskers. Actually it is being thought that this god is an

assimilation of a Chinese god,the three start god.
